Farwell and Thank You 2020

Dear 2020,

You brought a lot of pain and hardship to many people during the past year, some more than others. While I would never minimize the difficulty and hardship of others, you have taught me valuable lessons.

Just as 20/20 vision indicates the sharpness or clarity of vision, you have brought into focus profound insights to help me live a fuller life in 2021.

You taught me:

The importance of positivity – Positivity breeds positivity inward and outward. Positivity spreads and is a powerful source of energy and action.

To be grateful for who I am and what I have – No matter how much I lose, I still have a lot and should never take my blessings for granted.

To be even more empathetic and aware of the hardship of others – I can become wrapped up in my own little world that I neglect the hardships others experience. Being aware of the experiences of others gives me greater understanding and the power to affect change.

To cherish my family and friends – I have received much support throughout the year. Each time I’ve been knocked down, someone was there to pick me up, give me a hand and push me forward.

The potential of chance meetings – I have met many people over the years who have become close friends. It was nether by accident nor coincidence that caring people have showed up at the right time in the right place during my time of need.

The significance of community – Though I am one, I am not alone. I have a social responsibility to help others and make this world a better place.

The impact of spirituality – I am more than just a physical being. A Source exists in me and around me that provides profound influence in my thoughts and actions.

And while I won't miss you 2020, I will never forget you.

Sincerely,

JJ
